Milni (Families meet)

The bride’s family wait at the venue to greet the baraat. When they arrive, family members meet, exchange garlands, and embrace.

Kirtan

The Partap Brothers will be singing Shabads (hymns) in the style of Gurmat Sangeet. The Guru Granth Sahib will be attended by a sewadar. We provide a full english translation by Davinder Partap Singh Ji. Instruments included in the Kirtan: Tabla, Harmonium, Violin Special request: Saarangi, Sitar


Ardaas-

The bride and groom and their close families will stand for the first prayer, which will be read by the Partap Brothers. This seeks the blessings of the Waheguru for the marriage.

Laava
Circulating the Guru Granth Sahib

The couple circle the Guru Granth Sahib four times, in which the Partap Brothers will read four Laavs ( verses) These represent vows they make to each other. The first five verses of the Anand Sahib is sung, which express God’s joy in the union.
